What's Your Minimum Viable Me?

Many high-responsibility people have the same fear: ‘If I prioritize myself, I’ll let someone down.’

But prioritizing your needs doesn’t mean ignoring your family. It means leading your life with honesty.

Start with needs, not wants

Needs are the basics that keep you stable: sleep, movement, quiet, connection, medical care, time to think.

When needs go unmet, everything becomes harder, including being patient and present.

The ‘minimum viable me’ list

Write 5 things you need to function well. Keep it simple.

Example: 7 hours of sleep, 15 minutes outside, protein at lunch, one real conversation, 10 minutes alone.

Make it a family conversation

Depending on your household, you can say: ‘I’m trying to take better care of myself so I can be more present. Here’s what I’m working on.’

Then invite: ‘What do you need too?’

Practical trade-offs

Balance often looks like trading perfection for presence:

• simpler meals

• fewer extracurriculars in one season

• saying no to optional commitments

• asking for help earlier

Want support building a sustainable rhythm?

If you’re carrying a lot right now, at work and at home, support can make the difference between surviving and actually feeling like yourself again.
